Siemens announced today that KORE Power, Inc., the leading U.S.-based developer of battery cell technology for the clean energy and e-mobility industries, has selected advanced manufacturing software and hardware from the Siemens Xcelerator open business platform for the KOREPlex. This new 1,330,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility in Arizona will use multiple production lines to produce batteries for electric vehicles (EV) and energy storage systems.

Siemens is the first company to successfully receive UL listing for a 120-volt, single pole solid-state circuit breaker.

Siemens today unveiled a new sustainable, EV charging concept structure designed for electrifying fleets and high demand charging applications at scale. The new VersiCharge XL concept was created to electrify new or existing parking lots and building structures quickly and efficiently by using a modular, scalable design made in partnership with Nexii Building Solutions (Nexii) using their proprietary, sustainable building material with low carbon footprint. The solution, which resembles a modern-day fueling station, was developed in late 2021, and then installed in only three day at Siemens’ R&D hub eMobility and North American Headquarters for Electric Products.

Siemens eMobility® announced it has worked with Ford on the Ford Charge Station Pro, a custom electric vehicle (EV) charger for the Ford F-150 Lightning. This innovative charger is the first bidirectional-ready EV solution set for release at retail customer scale to receive certification under the newly expanded Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 9741, an important industry-wide benchmark that ensures products meet safety standards. The new charge station also features a peak power of 19.2kW, achieving the maximum power rating currently available for a Level 2 charge station.

The Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Office of Counterterrorism and Emerging Threats (OCET) has awarded a contract worth over $1.78M to Siemens Government Technologies (SGT) with technology from Siemens Digital Industries. Siemens will provide its expertise to implement advanced industrial software for digital design and an automated manufacturing production demonstration line for regulatory science use in the FDA OCET advanced manufacturing program. This program is collaborating with the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) to provide FDA with access to extensive software from Siemens Digital Industries Software’s Xcelerator portfolio including advanced integrated software capabilities for design control and risk management; product lifecycle management; product, plant, and process design modeling and simulation; manufacturing execution; closed loop quality management; Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and much more.

Siemens is announcing its commitment to invest and expand the company’s U.S. manufacturing operations to support electric vehicle infrastructure in America. The company will bolster its existing manufacturing footprint of EV infrastructure with the VersiCharge Level 2 AC series product line of commercial and residential EV chargers. With this addition, Siemens is preparing to manufacture over 1 million electric vehicle chargers for the United States over the next four years. This investment is the latest in the company’s strategic plan to meet accelerating electric vehicle charging demand, expand its manufacturing capabilities, and increase transportation electrification job opportunities at all levels in the United States. The company is currently conducting local site evaluations.
